As part of the Rosalynn Carter Fellowships for Mental Health Journalism, the Carter Center's Mental Health Program began awarding fellowships to journalists in Qatar in 2016.
Journalists from Qatar travel to Atlanta to receive training and guidance on projects from experts and other fellows. Their participation is a result of a partnership with the Qatar Foundation’s World Innovation Summit for Health’s (WISH) healthcare community initiative.
Since 1997, the fellowship program has provided stipends and expert training to journalists to report on topics related to mental health or mental illnesses. The primary goal is to increase accurate reporting on mental health issues and decrease incorrect, stereotypical information.
