ATLANTA — The annual Carter Center Weekend is set to return for 2024 with an exciting array of activities. This year's event will take place June 26-30 at the beautiful Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego, California.
For years, the Carter Center Weekend has been a cherished tradition, bringing together supporters dedicated to global peace and health. Guests gather to celebrate the Center’s achievements and engage in activities, including excursions, social events, and a live auction.
Auction catalogs, as well as instructions for bidding, can be found here. For guests bidding in the silent auction onsite, bidding will remain open until 6:15 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time on June 29. The live auction will commence at 7:15 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time on the same day.
The auctions feature a variety of eye-catching items, including exclusive gifts received by President and Mrs. Carter from around the globe. Unique auction items include the following:
President Carter’s artist tools and a limited-edition, signed giclée print of a painting President Carter completed in 2005, depicting The Carter Center.
A one-of-a-kind turned umbrella/cane vase crafted by Russ Filbeck. Also included is a copy of Filbeck’s book, “Making Ladder Back Chairs with Russ Filbeck,” and a vintage Carter campaign umbrella featuring an image of President Carter.
Shaker boxes skillfully crafted by Mrs. Carter. The boxes are the same dimensions as similar boxes Russ Filbeck gifted her and feature Filbeck’s signature finish. Both boxes bear Mrs. Carter’s signature and include a two-day box-making class with Filbeck.
A paperweight features the Saudi Fund for Development’s emblem and comes in a green and cream box with a sterling silver Tiffany & Co. keychain that showcases the Saudi Arabian National Emblem.
A special Epiphone guitar, signed by the late singer Dan Fogelberg with a note saying "Sorry" for not selling out a concert, comes with his "High Country Snows" CD and a matted photo of Fogelberg performing at Atlanta’s Chastain Park in 1990.
A pair of 16-inch Ichimatsu dolls by Matsusho Koide, featuring intricate silk costumes and glass eyes, honor Japanese craftsmanship with a girl in a red floral design and a boy in a black-and-gold ensemble.
Three American Bicentennial coin sets celebrate U.S. history: a proof-quality silver dollar and gold five-dollar coin set; a National Bicentennial Bronze Medal featuring the Great Seal and Statue of Liberty; and the official 1976 silver Proof Set with Bicentennial Quarter, Kennedy Half Dollar, and Eisenhower Dollar.
In addition to the Silent Auction and the Live Auction, guests can also browse high-quality clothing and other goods on the Online Store.
Proceeds from Carter Center Weekend will support the Center’s ongoing efforts to promote peace, combat disease, and inspire hope worldwide.
