MONROVIA, LIBERIA — A Carter Center pre-election assessment team will travel to Liberia next week, following up an earlier visit in April. The team will evaluate the pre-election environment and status of technical preparations in advance of legislative elections scheduled for October 2017.
The mission will meet with political party leaders, the National Election Commission, the Supreme Court, the Liberian National Police, civil society leaders, and international partners to learn about key issues and challenges surrounding the 2017 elections. The team also will examine the advisability and feasibility of deploying an international election mission from The Carter Center for the 2017 elections.
