Soyia Ellison is the director of storytelling at The Carter Center. In this role, she is responsible for overseeing the production of creative materials that showcase the Center’s work and impact. From 2014 through the fall of 2022, she was the associate director of communications for the Center’s peace programs.
Earlier in her career, Ellison worked as a newspaper reporter and editor at the Winston-Salem Journal, the Florida Times-Union, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. She also served in a variety of communications roles at Habitat for Humanity International and was the public and media relations director at South Coast Repertory theater in Costa Mesa, California.
Ellison has a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree from the University of Alabama. She sometimes teaches communications courses at Kennesaw State University.
