CARTAGENA, COLOMBIA — The Carter Center congratulates the people of Colombia on this historic day, which opens the door to peace after a 50-year civil war. The world will witness the signing of a peace accord by President Juan Manuel Santos and Rodrigo Londoño (“Timochenko”), commander in chief of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia – People’s Army. We celebrate this momentous occasion in the hemisphere and encourage the Colombian people in their efforts toward reconciliation and peace.

CARTAGENA, COLOMBIA — El Centro Carter felicita al pueblo de Colombia en este histórico día que abre la puerta para la paz después de cincuenta años de conflicto armado. Hoy en Cartagena, el mundo será testigo de la firma de un acuerdo de paz entre el Presidente Juan Manuel Santos y Rodrigo Londoño ("Timochenko"), comandante de las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia - Ejército del Pueblo. Celebramos esta trascendental ocasión para el hemisferio y alentamos a los colombianos en sus esfuerzos hacia la reconciliación y la paz.
